Fancy process - Chromoscadasic
This fun process required a film shot, and dark room processing, only after you do your exposure you than do a ful light exposure (like you would a solarization) and develop with a special ammonia based developer that is really stinky.
The outcome is a neat and metallic like image that in certain light gives off a rainbow tone!! so neat!! hope you enjoy!

Wet Plate Tintype Photography
MERMAID
These are 4x5" tintype photographs. Printed on actual pieces of metal. you first have to put a film (collodion) on the metal than soak them in silver nitrate for 5 mins, than expose to light and develop.
TREE
The are extremely fun but somewhat time consuming. Not like today's digital work! But the details are excellent and the satisfaction of taking photos and developing them yourself is like no other! The smells of all the chemicals can be a tad overwhelming but worth it!
HAYSTACK
This last image is of me with a VERY old (1920's) camera with an even older lens that can be used to take photos with these metal plates. This was the most exciting class I ever took in college, and will go and retake the course again soon, I love working in old and exciting mediums!

Window Shopping
When I look at old buildings I always seem to start at the windows, which to m are so much like the eyes and soul of a place. peeking through to see the history and the contents within. So often I find unique treasures that I can photograph and share with others.
More often than not I find windows like this shattered and broken. With no hope of being returned to it's former glory. It's a sad reality but also an opportunity to explore the shape and design of each window in these abandoned spaces.
I hope you enjoy these forgotten windows to the past.

Watching a city disappear
These shots are from a small town called Rock Falls, IL . I have a cottage out there and spend alot of time shooting barns and abandoned buildings. I watched them take this building down over a 5 year period shooting images every month. Well it's officially gone :-( I came out this month and its a vacant lot. pictures to follow this week. I hope something good goes there.

Obsessed with Old Barns
As you can probably tell from my older posts I love abandoned buildings. But nothing is more exciting to me than old barns. I love the hunt to find these old places and I love to go in them and explore. I have found so many unique things from old cars, to old tools, to wild animals!
Barns are a way of life here in the Midwest, and sadly many of them have gone to the wayside. My hope is to share their beauty and perhaps get others out there to see these majestic buildings.
